Indie is the New Hollywood

Was going to craft a clever essay expounding on this, but alas I've run out of time and article freshness is wearing off.

Regardless, this is an interesting read.

And long-time readers of this blog know I've frequently said:
"Hollywood is just regurgitating material that they've already done, and I think the public is rather fatigued with it so they're looking for other things," Spheeris said. "The studios have taken the safe road for too long, but when you're making a $100 million movie you have to take the safe road because you have so much at risk."

Hollywood is talking ...

about the Hanged Man.

From the Hollywood is Talking blog ...

Sneak Peak at the Hanged Man

Indie film company Starbox Pictures this week launched the official movie web site for their upcoming supernatural thriller "The Hanged Man" at www.thehangedmanmovie.com. The group also released a new teaser for the film, which can be viewed on YouTube at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AaXSni5KzMc.

The Hanged Man is the offbeat genre-bending tale of a group of social misfits who meet in an abandoned barn to commit suicide after being lured into a pact by a Godot-like leader.

Produced on a budget of just over $100,000, the film was shot in 14 days on location in South Carolina. It stars an ensemble cast of small screen regulars, including Cliff Weissman, Brandon Gibson, and Shanola Hampton. The film is also the feature debut for screenwriter Glenn Hopper and director Neil H. Weiss.

Another article about "The Hanged Man."

Unfortunately, The Greenville Journal doesn't publish their content online, so I've scanned into PDF format.
